Twenty years ago—before smartphones, Facebook, and twenty-four hour connectivity—we were seniors at Bowdoin. We were in class, at Hawthorne, and on the Quad. We were hanging out with friends, getting ready for practice, and looking forward to a party on a Saturday night (or a Wednesday…). And we were preparing to leave Bowdoin, our home of four years. We may have left campus in 1997, but we all know that Bowdoin never leaves us, and we really never leave Bowdoin. So we invite you back for a weekend on campus to celebrate our 20th Reunion, Thursday, June 1 through Sunday, June 4.

If the thought of a sunny afternoon on the Quad with friends, family, and music is not incentive enough, here are a few Reunion highlights to get you excited:

  • The weekend kicks off with a Reunion Welcome Dinner on Thursday night, followed by a comedy show with Bob Marley and libations in Jack Magee’s Pub.
  • After a tented dinner at our Headquarters with the Class of ’02 on Friday, head over to Smith Union for the Bowdoin Brewfest, featuring live music and tastings from craft breweries all over Maine. This year, the Brewfest will also feature Night Shift Brewing started by two members from the Class of 2007!
  • Saturday offers the Alumni Parade, Convocation, Reunion Carnival, and, of course, the traditional Bowdoin Reunion lobster bake, before we close out the weekend with a campus-wide party at the Union with the amazing band, The Party Factor.

If you are thinking about bringing your family, you will be happy to know kids 17 and under attend Reunion for free! (A limited amount of on-campus housing is available for families upon request, on a first-come, first-served basis.) And for those bringing families, special kids’ activities will also be available at our Headquarters: bouncy house, lawn games, arts and crafts, and a night at the movies on Saturday—we’ll provide the popcorn! We will have our own tent and bar set up on the lawn, allowing parents and kids to have their respective fun and still keep an eye on each other.

Life after Bowdoin took us in many directions: we are community leaders, coaches, parents, artists, educators, lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs, and more. Wherever your path led you after Bowdoin, we all have news and experiences to share and we are looking forward to catching up with you in June!

On behalf of the 20th Reunion Committee, we are excited to welcome you back to Bowdoin!

This year there is a special 20th Reunion giving challenge: an anonymous group of classmates from 1997 will donate $55,000 to the Alumni Fund gift if 155 classmates make our own gifts to Bowdoin before our 20th Reunion Weekend. EVERY GIFT COUNTS. If we meet this challenge, we will not only surpass our 20th Reunion participation goal but raise the largest gift in our Class’ history. Help us meet this challenge by making your gift today! We look forward to celebrating this accomplishment together during Reunion Weekend.

Check the online donor roll to see who has made their gift.
