March 2018 Registration Letter

Dear members, wives, and friends of the Class of 1958:

We hope you will join us as we celebrate our 60th Class Reunion from Thursday, May 31st – Sunday, June 3rd. The College has an interesting and full slate of events and the Class of ‘58 will have some special events just for our Class.

Reunions are about getting together with friends and classmates. This is our 12th formal 5 year Reunion, and could be our last organized one just for our class. We will continue to be part of the Old Guard in future years. We have had many very successful Reunions with great attendance – record breaking in fact! We are even known in the Alumni Office as “The Reunion Class.” As of now, plans for our Reunion include:

Thursday, May 31st
Campus-wide dinner

Friday, June 1st
10:45 a.m. – Old Guard Reception
11:30 a.m. – Presidential Lunch with the Old Guard
1:30 p.m. – Class of 1958 Memorial Service
4:00 p.m. – Traditional Reunion Cocktail party at Gordon and Roberta Weil’s
7:00 p.m. – Class of 1958 Dinner on campus

Saturday, June 2nd
College events all day, Convocation ceremony in the morning where our own Dick Burns will be honored with the Alumni Service Award

Sunday, June 3rd
9:30 a.m. – Bob and Ruth Kingsbury will host out traditional class brunch

Two class excursions are suggested for Saturday afternoon. The first is the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. You will be greeted by Bob Fritz ‘59 (who also volunteers at the Maine Maritime Museum). Another option is in Phippsburg, visiting Fort Popham, a Civil War-era coastal defense fortification, Fort Baldwin, and Popham Colony, one of the oldest English colonial settlements in North America. Excursions require your own transportation. Details and exact times will be in your welcome packet at Reunion. Our headquarters will be with the Old Guard at Chamberlain Hall. As in the past, the College will have on-campus housing available free of charge.

Please return the paper registration form by mail or register online at bowdoinreunion.com. Contact the Alumni Relations Office at reunion@bowdoin.edu or call 207-725-3266 should you have any questions. We hope you will plan on attending and will contact other classmates and encourage them to join us.

Your Reunion Committee,
Dick Burns, Bob Kingsbury, John Papacosma, Marty Roop, Gordon Weil

If you would like to join your classmates at Friday’s Class of ’58 dinner let the College know by calling 207-725-3266 or by sending an email to reunion@bowdoin.edu, or simply write it in on your paper registration form, and include a check or credit card number.
